Active Search Radar for the Command and Control Service of the German Air Force
Within the scope of the project “Active Search Radar for the Command and Control Service of the German Air Force” (ARED), a total of six obsolete Medium Power Radar (MPR) systems of the German Air Force were reolaced by a new stationary model. The project ARED aims at the replacement and regeneration of the Medium Power Radar systems, which were installed between 1969 and 1973, as these systems are obsolete and can’t be sustained in terms of logistics anymore.
The steep GmbH does not only assist Thales Raytheon Systems and Thales Air Systems in the installation of the radar system and the adjustment of the system into the existing infrastructure, but also in the implementation of training for the German Air Force operating staff. The project concerns the locations Auenhausen, Lauda-Königshofen, Visselhövede, Erndtebrück, Berkendorf and Freising and was completed by the end of 2015.
