Franz Habermayr, Architect at the Schrobenhausen Location
After my Abitur and nine months of community service I studied architecture and energy efficiency design at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
It was through my sister, who was still working for the company at that time, that I first discovered the steep GmbH (then still Serco GmbH). Thanks to her support, I was offered a 6-week internship in the construction department at the Schrobenhausen location in August 2009.
Afterwards I worked there as a student trainee and was responsible for the condition assessment of various production/office buildings and the recording of the necessary renovation/maintenance measures. After successfully completing my studies in November 2012, I finally got the chance to work as an architect for steep. At first I was mainly responsible for the planning and coordination of smaller building projects.
In the meantime, planning, controlling and coordinating (sometimes very) challenging construction projects at the Schrobenhausen and Freinhausen locations are among my responsibilities. I am involved in all work phases of the HOAI (Honorarordnung für Architekten und Ingenieure), sometimes also in cooperation with external engineering offices.
In 2017 I was appointed deputy head of the FM-STP department, and since then I have been additionally performing first management tasks.
Particularly exciting about my daily work is the fact that I am always confronted with new challenges. Due to the high demands for building safety and technology at the MBDA sites in Schrobenhausen (explosives processing facility) and Freinhausen (test and reference facility with radar operation) and the constant exchange with various departments, authorities and specialists, no construction projects are alike.
Furthermore, my work is characterised by a high degree of personal responsibility and independent action, values which have helped me enormously in my personal development.
What I appreciate most about steep is the wide range of training opportunities, the flat hierarchies and the respectful, almost friend-like atmosphere.
In this context, I immediately remember the cheerful summer/autumn celebrations and Christmas parties, some of which lasted until well after midnight.
Respect, sustainability and employee orientation – these are the values that characterize steep.
