steep holds Lecture at the 17th Job and Training Fair in Hamburg
Twice a year, the Hamburg magazine JOBWOCHE and the Jobs-Kompakt NORD present northern Germany’s largest interdisciplinary career fair at Terminal Tango at Hamburg Airport. The 17th edition of this job and training fair was held on April 13th, 2016. As one of more than 125 exhibitors, steep participated in the fair for the third time.
At our booth, the steep Training Center Hamburg presented the vocational education and retraining programmes in the area of metal and electrical skills offered at our location in Hamburg, as well as the latest project in which steep participated. This pilot project “NORDCHANCE Plus” was launched in spring 2016 and aims at young refugees aged 18 to 27 years, who are interested in training in the industrial and technical fields and already have an appropriate language level. The goal is to offer them a professional orientation, to prepare them for an apprenticeship and to provide a training place in a company.
Julia Malso, head of the steep Training Center in Schnackenburgallee Hamburg, held a lecture on this topic in the accompanying programme. Entitled “Professionals Strategy 2.0 – Successful Integration of Refugees through Vocational Guidance and Training Placement”, it explained effects of demographic change, conditions for better exploitation of the potential of women, older people and migrants, as well as strategies for fighting the shortage of skilled workers on the example of the NORDCHANCE Plus project.
