The Green Day 2014 that was organised by the NSPA is aimed at raising awareness for innovative, energy efficient and alternative energy products. The central point of this was the reduction of fuel dependency and minimizing the adverse environmental impact during the operations for military and civil applications. The steep GmbH qualified for the participation in the event held on June 25, 2014 in Capellen, Luxembourg as one of 13 exhibitors in a request for proposals.
On our exhibition space, we showed the “steep Mobile Solar Energy System”, which consists of a container with a solar panel and a tent as soldiers’ working and sleeping area. The system serves both the provision of hot water as well as solar temperature conditioning of working and sleeping areas. With this solution, we achieve a significant reduction in costs compared to the use of fossil fuels.
The particular advantages of the system are, on the one hand, the fact that fresh water is used for showering and washing facilities at all times, which means that a multiplication of legionella and bacteria is excluded. Secondly, the system does not work with a conventional air-conditioning, but cools (or heats) the soldiers’ sleeping and working areas in the tent via a capillary mats installation. This means that drafts and noise – both potentially causing illness – can be prevented and a very comfortable indoor climate is created. The guests of our presentation at the Green Day were able to experience and feel this effect first-hand.
Thank you very much to all guests that visited our demonstration and to the organisers for a well-planned and very successful Green Day.
